November, 2005
It's the night before my flight to San Francisco for another Bondage Dojo(tm) and I'm not quite sure what I want to write about here. I thought I could write more about the depressing state of sociopolitical affairs here in this country but if you're reading this, you're probably already up-to-date on the appalling attacks on personal freedoms we're beginning to suffer. I thought I might be able to write about more of the changes taking place in my personal life but this isn't really a blog and I don't want to bore anyone into leaving before they've checked out the galleries (after that you can be bored all you want).
I guess what I want to write about are some of the positive things happening here: Dojo counts as one of those (www.ropedojo.com). San Francisco's a wonderful place and I can't wait to return and teach with Midori!
Another positive thing that's happening for me is that images from some of the shoots I've done lately -- with Skye, Jordan and Mayan Lee have turned out beautifully. Michele and I got some great feedback when we attended a dinner party at Betty Dodson's apartment and she shared selective images from those shoots. The assembled guests really enjoyed seeing samples and the "oohs" and "ahhs" were quite a compliment and an encouragement. I can't wait to post galleries!
Another encouragement I received recently is an e-mail message from a gentleman who told me that he's loved my work for quite some time but didn't "get it" at all, meaning he didn't understand the nature of my trips into head space, when he first started looking at the site. Recently his bondage sessions have become more intense and he's starting to see what I've been going on about here. That was uplifting!
After the sting of the droves of people who didn't sign up for memberships to this site, I'd been lamenting the fact that it didn't seem as though I was reaching anyone when out of the blue this guy contacted me and reminded me that I'm a "niche market" and that what I do is entertaining and meaningful to people, even if it is a small group of people. I do this for the fun of it and for the inner dialogue I have with myself, the connection I share with my rope partners and the meditative experience I share with the universe and the divine -- all of which helps make me a more full person and someone who's happy to be here.
Some other things I'm looking forward to are more opportunities to educate and present. Michele and I will be presenting at TES' Bondage Special Interest Group in January. Bo and Lady D, of my leather family, have tapped me to present in March to the Novice Group they run at TES. Believe it or not, it won't be about bondage! I'll be presenting on scene etiquette for novices! What a challenge! In April I'll be in Boston for Dojo. May will find me at Shibaricon again.
So, my plate's getting more and more full, as is my life. As I said earlier, I'm very happy to be here! And I'm very happy you're here to share my adventures with!
Namaste,
